Born in Kalgoorlie relocated to Perth, Vattessa's connection to her Aboriginal heritage has been a driving force behind her and her families journey. With an appreciation for the land and a strong desire to make a positive impact, she embarked on a mission to create a business that would not only contribute to the local economy but also bring environmental and cultural preservation.
Vattessa and her family, are proud descendants of the Bibbulman nation belonging to Wagyl Kaip (the MINANG peoples of King George Sound) and Southwest Boojarah, located in Busselton.
Vattessa’s connections to Goldfields are Wongatha nations through her (Tjalkatjarra people’s) the Yilka Talintji in the Northern Goldfields ‘her grandmother’s county, (Tjerradjal peoples) and Kakarra in the Central Eastern and Western, Goldfield’s ‘her grandfather’s county.
With a commitment to sustainability and cultural heritage, Vattessa has positioned Desert Gem as an Aboriginal commercial supplier of coffee beans and automated coffee machines.
